The National Association of Campus Activities Awards Its Highest Honor to Regina Hyatt

Regina Hyatt, vice president for student affairs at Mississippi State University, has received the 2025 Founders Award from the National Association for Campus Activities. The award, considered the organization’s highest honor, recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the association and other professionals involved in campus event planning and activities.

Dr. Hyatt has been a dedicated member of NACA throughout her career in higher education. She has previously served on the organization’s board of directors and foundation board, including stints as chair. Additionally, she has served on several committees, helped to plan numerous conferences, and co-founded the NACA Student Organizations Institute.

For the past decade, Dr. Hyatt has led Mississippi State’s division of student affairs, where she oversees programs, services, and experiences related to student success and well-being, professional development, and academic achievement. She also teaches in the student affairs and higher education graduate program.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Hyatt was dean of students and associate vice president for student affairs at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Earlier, she served in various roles at the University of South Florida, the University of South Florida at St. Petersburg, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Dr. Hyatt received her bachelor’s degree in political science and her master’s degree in college student personnel from Western Illinois University. She earned her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of South Florida.

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
