Eleven Women Appointed to Administrative Roles at Colleges and Universities

Akirah Bradley-Armstrong has been named vice chancellor for student life at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Bradley-Armstrong joins MIT from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she has served the past four years as vice chancellor for student affairs and success. Earlier in her career, she was vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Colorado Boulder. She has also held senior roles in student life at the University of California, Berkeley.

A graduate of Mansfield University in Pennsylvania, Dr. Bradley-Armstrong holds a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of California, Davis.

Leslie Nelson-Bernier has been selected to serve as interim vice chancellor for university development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A development administrator with the university since 2005, Nelson-Bernier has been serving as senior associate vice chancellor for university development. Among other roles throughout her tenure, she has served as chief philanthropy officer for UNC Health, president of the UNC Health Foundation, and associate dean for development at the UNC School of Medicine.

Nelson-Bernier is a graduate of Clemson University in South Carolina.

Nechell Bonds was appointed vice president for enrollment management and student success at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. Bonds comes to her new role from Oregon State University, where she was vice provost for enrollment management. Earlier in her career, she was vice president for enrollment management at East Texas A&M University.

Bonds received her bachelor’s degree in international business from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and her master of education degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.

April Nilsen is the new associate vice president of development and community engagement and executive director of the foundation at Shoreline Community College in Washington. Nilsen brings more than 12 years of nonprofit development, communications, and organizational leadership experience to her new role. She most recently served as vice president of development and impact at the Washington Alliance for Better Schools.

Nilsen is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington.

Melissa Robinson has been appointed vice chancellor for advancement for the University of Tennessee Foundation and UT Health Sciences. Dr. Robinson has been serving as chief development officer for UT Health Sciences. Before joining the university, she was senior director of principal gifts and strategic planning at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her career includes prior roles in principal and major gift funding, grateful patient programs, annual giving, and higher education marketing and communications.

Dr. Robinson is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she majored in journalism. She holds an MBA from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, and a doctor of health administration degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Rosalyn Galloway is the new associate vice chancellor for advancement operations at North Carolina A&T State University. Galloway comes to her new role with more than three decades of experience in institutional advancement and operations. Most recently, she was assistant vice chancellor for advancement services at North Carolina Central University. Her background in higher education also includes advancement roles at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and Western Carolina University.

Galloway is a graduate of Montreat College in North Carolina, where she majored in business administration.

Tani A. Saintfleur was named vice president for compliance, policy, privacy services, and civil rights compliance at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Saintfleur has more than 20 years of experience across higher education, healthcare, and global organizations. She previously held leadership roles with New York University, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia University.

A graduate of Stony Brook University in New York, Saintfleur earned her master of public administration degree from New York University and her juris doctorate from Pace Law School in New York.

Jennifer Sabourin was appointed vice president of student affairs at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. WIth more than 20 years of higher education experience, Dr. Sabourin most recently served as vice president of student services and athletics at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan. Her background includes prior roles in enrollment management, financial aid, student engagement, accessibility services, Title IX, residence life, and student success.

An alumna of Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, Dr. Sabourin received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and her Ph.D. from Iowa State University

Valerie Wilson-Wilbert is executive director of admissions and records at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead. Wilson-Wilbert most recently served as the college’s director of admissions. Before that, she was assistant director of admissions. In her new role, she will provide leadership for admissions processing, registration, academic records, graduate certification, compliance, and enrollment reporting.

Wilson-Wilbert received her bachelor’s degree from Mississippi Valley State University, where she majored in criminal justice. She earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Arizona.

Kristina Keogh was named assistant dean for student success and research in the College of Design, Art & Performance at the University of South Florida. Dr. Keogh, who will retain her current role as dean of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, has served in several other leadership roles at the college, including acting director of the Contemporary Art Museum and assistant dean for the St. Petersburg campus. Before joining the university, she was director of library services for the Alfred R. Goldstein Library at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.

Dr. Keogh holds three degrees in art history: a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, a master’s degree from the University of Florida, and a doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also holds a master’s degree in library and information studies from Florida State University.

April Belback has been promoted to vice provost for student success at the University of Pittsburgh. A member of the university’s Office of the Provost since 2019, Dr. Belback has been serving as associate vice provost for student success and advising. Prior to joining Pitt, she was director of advising and the division of undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Belback has also previously taught high school English.

A first generation college student, Dr. Belback earned her bachelor’s degree in English and her master’s degree in secondary English education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She holds an educational doctorate in administration and leadership studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
