Ana Miljački is head of the department of architecture in the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Miljački, the Francis White Davis Professor of Architecture, has been an MIT faculty member for nearly 20 years. She previously served as director of the master’s degree program in architecture studies and the master of architecture degree program. In 2018, she launched the institution’s Critical Broadcasting Lab, which examines the complexity, nuance, and politics of architectural production.
An alumna of Bennington College in Vermont, Dr. Miljački holds a master of architecture degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and a Ph.D. in history and theory of architecture from Harvard University.
Dolores Albarracín is director of the Anneberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Albarracín, the Amy Gutmann Penn Integrates Knowledge University Professor, also directs Penn’s Social Action Lab and the Anneberg Center’s communication science division. She has been a faculty member at the Ivy League institution for more than two decades. As a scholar, Dr. Albarracín studies the impact of communication and persuasion on human behavior and the formation of beliefs, attitudes, and goals, particularly those that are socially beneficial.
Dr. Albarracín received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the Catholic University of La Plata in Argentina and her master’s degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Wen Zhang is associate dean for academics in the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Zhang, a professor of civil engineering, has been a faculty member at the university since 2011. She leads the Environmental Engineering Research Laboratory, where her research focuses on water and wastewater treatment.
Dr. Zhang is a graduate of Tongji University in Shanghai, China, where she majored in environmental engineering. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Kansas and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Ashanti Jones was promoted from interim director to permanent director of the Marjorie S. Price Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Louisiana Monroe. A faculty member with the university since 2020, she previously served as the program’s associate director. Throughout the past six years. Dr. Jones also served as director of clinical education, admissions chair, and neuro curriculum coordinator. Before entering academia, she practiced as a physical therapist in a variety of clinical settings.
A graduate of Dillard University in Louisiana, Dr. Jones holds a master of physical therapy degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, a doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of the Incarnate World in Texas, and a educational doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Uma Velury was appointed chair of the department of accounting in the Alfred Lemer College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware. A full professor of accounting, Dr. Velury has been a faculty member with the university since 1999. As a scholar, her research centers on audit quality and earnings quality.
Dr. Velury is a graduate of Osmania University in India. She holds a master’s degree in professional accountancy from Clemson University in South Carolina and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
Lia Uribe has been named director of the University of Arizona School of Music. Dr. Uribe comes to her new role after more than a decade at the University of Arkansas, where she most recently served as associate dean for arts and humanities. Earlier, she held several roles in the department of music, including director of undergraduate studies, vice chair, and chair. Her research focuses on Latin American and historically marginalized and underrepresented music and composers.
Dr. Uribe holds a bachelor’s degree in bassoon performance from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, a master’s degree in bassoon performance from the University of Arkansas, and a doctorate in bassoon performance from the University of Kansas. She also earned an MBA in arts innovation through the Global Leaders Institute, a program curated and certified by Harvard University, Duke University, Georgetown University, McGill University, New York University, and Bard College
