Eight Women Who Have Been Assigned New Administrative Duties at Colleges and Universities

Kimberly Chestnut was appointed vice president for student affairs at the University of Wyoming. She has led the Division of Student Affairs on an interim basis since last September. In 2018, Dr. Chestnut was named dean of students at the University of Wyoming. Earlier, she was the assistant vice president for student affairs at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Chestnut is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in psychology from George Washington University, and a second master’s degree and a doctorate in education from Widener University in Pennsylvania.

Artanya Wesley was appointed vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She was served in the role on an interim basis since last July. Dr. Wesley joined the university in July 2016 as dean of students. Earlier, she served as a senior academic planner for student affairs in the Office of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Student Success for the University of Wisconsin System.

Dr. Wesley earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counselor education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Capella University.

Tina McEntire will become the vice chancellor for enrollment management at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro on June 1. She has been serving as director of enrollment management at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has been on the staff at UNCC since 1994.

McEntire holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of public affairs degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Angela Wilkins has been named executive director of the Ken Kennedy Institute at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The institute is the university’s hub for computing and data science research. Dr. Wilkins was previously chief scientist of Mercury Fund, a Houston venture capital group, advising on artificial intelligence-related investments.

Dr. Wilkins is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where she majored in physics. She holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Casey Anderson has been named director of student health and wellness services at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She has been serving in the position on an interim basis. Anderson joined the staff at Swarthmore College in 2015 and operates as a private nurse practitioner.

Anderson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

Beth G. Brand has been named vice president and University secretary at the University of Delaware. She is the first woman to hold the post. Brand has served as senior associate vice president for development at the university since 2016.

Brand earned a bachelor’s degree in French and international relations, with a minor in history, at the University of Delaware.

Jessica Parrillo was appointed director of Counseling and Psychological Services at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Parrillo most recently served as the director of clinical operations at the Drexel University Counseling Center in Philadelphia. She will begin her new duties on June 1.

Dr. Parrillo earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in psychological counseling from Teacher’s College at Columbia University and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Georgia.

Jill Buban is the new vice president of digital strategy and online education at Fairfield University in Connecticut. Most recently, Dr. Buban has served as the chief academic officer of the Unizin Consortium.

Dr. Buban is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she majored in history. She hold a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh and a Ph.D. in educational studies from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
