Five Women Who Have Been Assigned New Administrative Duties in Higher Education

Chandler Short is the new director of athletics at McPherson College in Kansas. She has been serving as interim director. Short is the first woman to serve as the full-time athletics director at the college. Short began her career at McPherson College in 2017 and was promoted to assistant director of athletics and senior woman administrator in 2018.

A native of Texas, Short earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from McPherson College in 2015. She holds a master’s degree in adult and higher education with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletic administration from the University of Oklahoma.

Sandra Marin was appointed regional director of the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Atlantic University. She was the director of both the Free Enterprise Center as well as an affiliated site of the Missouri Small Business Development Center at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Marin holds a master of public administration degree and is currently completing work on a doctorate in education leadership and policy studies at the University of Missouri.

Whitney Brown was named director of the Career Exploration & Services at the University of Alaska at Anchorage. She has been serving as interim director. Earlier, she served as assessment & strategic projects director at the university.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration and educational policy from the University at Albany of the State University of New York System.

Lynda Heaney has been named vice chancellor for medical advancement at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She was assistant vice president for principal and transformational gifts for Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs. Earlier, she held fundraising posts at the University of California, San Diego for 12 years.

Heaney earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Lisa A. Keegan will be the next vice president for enrollment management at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Since 2017, she has been assistant vice president and dean of undergraduate admissions at Elon University in North Carolina.

Keegan is a graduate of Elon University and earned a law degree at Stetson University in Gulfport, Florida.
