Sonia M. Najjar has been chosen as the next associate dean for research and innovation at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She currently serves as the Frederick W. Hiss Endowed Professor in diabetes research and is the founding director of the Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Research at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. She will begin her new duties at Ohio University on February 1.
Dr. Najjar holds a master’s degree in chemistry from San Francisco State University and a Ph.D. in physiology from the Stanford University Medical School.
Ashley Kehoe was named associate director of the Experimental Learning Initiative of the Center for the Advancement of Learning at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She has been serving as an instructional designer in the office of Information Technology Services at the college.
Kehoe is a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in higher education from Loyola University in Chicago.
Julianna Stratton was appointed director of the Center for Public Safety and Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was serving as executive director of the nonprofit agency Cook County Justice for Children.
Stratton is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and the law school at DePaul University in Chicago.
Cameron Holden was named the manager of the Integrated Concentration in Science program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has been serving as interim director of the Learning Resource Center at the university.
Holden earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education from the University of Michigan.
Lindsey Swagerty is the new director of the Educational Renewal Zone in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. Since 2011, she has been an academic adviser in the department of curriculum and instruction at the university.
Swagerty is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she majored in developmental psychology. She holds a master of library and information science degree from the University of Oklahoma and currently is a doctorate student at the University of Arkansas.
Jenny Boudreaux was promoted to associate director for external affairs for the University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association. For the past five years, she has served as assistant director of communications for the association.
Boudreaux holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in public relations from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Anna M. Thompson was appointed executive director of the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She was the executive director of the Debartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
Thompson is a graduate of Albion College in Michigan. She earned a master’s degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Ruth Wolever is the new director of health coaching at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She was serving as the founding director of research for Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Wolever holds a Ph.D. in clinical health psychology from the University of Miami in Florida.
Terri Harris Reed was named secretary of Spelman College in Atlanta. In this role, Dr. Reed will serve as the chief administrative officer for the college’s board of trustees. She has been serving as vice provost for diversity and inclusion at George Washington University. Dr. Reed is the former vice provost for institutional equity and diversity at Princeton University.
Dr. Reed is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in rhetoric and intercultural communication from Howard University in Washington. D.C.
Dr. Crowley has served as provost at Ohio Wesleyan University since 2020. She is slated to become the nineteenth president of Kalamazoo College on July 1.
The three women named to provost positions are Nancy Marchand-Martella at the University of Northern Colorado, Lise Youngblade at Colorado State University, and Randi Storch at Western Oregon University.
Although it was initially founded as school for women, the University of Montevallo has never had a woman president. Now the university has reached a historic milestone and selected selected Michelle R. Johnston to serve as its next president.
The women who are taking on new leadership roles with professional academic organizations are Yasmeen Shorish of James Madison University in Virginia, Elena Carbone of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Shelley Lusetti of New Mexico State University, Oona Hathaway of Yale Law School, and Keisha Blain of Brown University.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
