
Since 2021, Dr. Raver has been serving as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. For the previous nine years, she was deputy provost at New York University where she provided leadership for faculty, research, and graduate student affairs. Dr. Raver served as a faculty member at New York University for 13 years, rising to the rank of professor of applied psychology. Before joining NYU’s faculty in 2007, Dr. Raver held faculty positions at the University of Chicago and Cornell University. Her research focuses primarily on early learning and development in the contexts of poverty and policy.
“It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as the University of Michigan’s seventeenth president at this pivotal moment in higher education,” Dr. Raver said. “Michigan’s scale and impact across research, education, economic growth, and public service are unmatched and I’m eager to build on its remarkable legacy. I look forward to working alongside faculty, staff, students and alumni to lead Michigan forward with clarity and confidence.”
Professor Raver is a graduate of Harvard University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology at Yale University.
