Two Women Scientists Join the Faculty at North Dakota State University

The department of veterinary and microbiological sciences at North Dakota State University has added four faculty members. Two of the new faculty members are women. Both of the women will devote 40 percent of their time to teaching and 60 percent to research.

Sheela Ramamoorthy is an assistant professor whose research is focused on microbial pathogenesis. She was an assistant professor of virology at the University of Georgia. Previously, she was a clinician in the department of veterinary diagnostic and preventive medicine at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Ramamoorthy is a graduate of the Madras Veterinary College in India. She holds a master’s degree in microbiology and molecular genetics from Oklahoma State University and a doctorate in biomedical and veterinary sciences from Virginia Tech.

Teresa Bergholz is a new assistant professor. She was a research associate in the department of food science at Cornell University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and food science and a doctorate in food science from Michigan State University.
