Dina Perrone was promoted to dean of graduate studies at California State University, Long Beach. She has served in several roles with the university, including interim dean, associate dean for graduate studies and graduate studies faculty director. Dr. Perrone has also taught as a professor in the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Emergency Management.
Dr. Perrone is a graduate of the State University of New York Geneseo, where she majored in political science. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey.
Karin Gwinn Wilkins was named dean of the School of Communication and Journalism at Stony Brook University in New York. Dr. Wilkins comes to her new appointment from the University of Miami, where she served as dean of the School of Communication. Previously, she spent more than two decades on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, where she held a variety of leadership roles in the Moody College of Communication. Her scholarship centers on global communication, development communication, and media studies.
Dr. Wilkins is a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where she majored in interdisciplinary studies. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jenny Paxton was named vice provost for teaching and dean of undergraduate studies at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. An associate professor of history, Dr. Paxton has served as director of the university’s honors program for the past 10 years. As a historian, she studies medieval England, Ireland, and monasticism.
Dr. Paxton is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in medieval history from Harvard University.
Jillian Jackson is the new dean of students at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Dr. Jackson has extensive higher education experience in student affairs, academic affairs, instructional leadership, and student success. Prior to her new role, she served as Shaw University’s director of digital teaching and learning.
Dr. Jackson is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, where she majored in elementary education. She holds a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and a doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in higher education from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.
Carol Ann Borchert is dean of the University of South Florida Libraries. Borchert has been a member of the university’s community for nearly 30 years, most recently serving as senior associate dean of libraries. Earlier, she was director of Digital Scholarship Services. Before joining the university, she worked at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
Borchert is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where she majored in finance. She received her master of library science degree from the University of Kentucky and her master’s degree in Spanish from the University of South Florida.
