The International Association of Top Professionals has named Susan Ray-Degges, profesor and program coordinator of interior design at North Dakota State University, the 2025 Top Professor of the Year in Interior Design. The honor recognizes her career accomplishments in interior design education, research, and leadership.
A faculty member with North Dakota State University since 1997, Dr. Ray-Degges has coordinated the interior design program since 2003. Her research interests include aging and the environment, historical interiors, and interior design assessment processes. Particularly, she centers her scholarly work on supporting older adults through thoughtful and inclusive design. Within the broader field of interior design, she is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, the Interior Design Educators Council, and North Dakota Interior Designers.
Dr. Ray-Degges is a graduate of what is now Missouri State University, where she majored in home economics with a minor in art. She holds a master’s degree in housing and interior design and a Ph.D. in human environmental sciences with a specialization in environmental design and gerontology from the University of Missouri.
