Two Women Among the Four Finalists for Provost at Texas Tech University

Texas Tech University in Lubbock has announced the names of four finalists for the position of senior vice president and provost. All candidates will be visiting the campus in the coming days for interviews, public forums, and receptions. Two of the four finalists are women.

Diane Z. Chase is executive vice provost for academic, faculty, and international affairs and professor of anthropology at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Her research focuses on the ancient Maya of Central America. Dr. Chase holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. She joined the faculty at the University of Central Florida in 1985 after lecturing at Princeton University for two years.

Kimberly Andrews Espy is vice president for research and innovation, dean of the Graduate School, and professor of psychology at the University of Oregon. She also serves as director of the university’s Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Oregon, she was the Charles Bessey Professor and served as associate vice chancellor for research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Espy is a graduate of Rice University and earned master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Houston.
