Stacy Pfluger Elevated to President of Bakersfield College in California

Following one year of interim service, Stacy Pfluger is officially the permanent president of Bakersfield College in California. According to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education, the community college enrolls nearly 31,000 students, 57 percent of whom are women.

Before her interim appointment, Dr. Pfluger was vice chancellor of educational services and student success at the Kern Community College District, which oversees Bakersfield College, Porterville College, and Cerro Coso Community College. Prior to that role, she was provost at Southeast Arkansas College. Earlier in her career, Dr. Pfluger spent 14 years serving in a variety of roles at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas, including lead biology professor, associate dean of instruction for science and mathematics, and assistant vice president of academic affairs.

Dr. Pfluger is a graduate of Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in biology from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and a doctorate in education from Texas Tech University.
