Katy Ho to Lead Portland Community College in Oregon

Katy Ho is the new acting president of Portland Community College (PCC) in Oregon. The college enrolls nearly 21,000 students, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women represent 56 percent of the student body.

Before her presidential appointment, Dr. Ho served as PCC’s executive vice president. Earlier in her tenure, she was vice president for academic affairs. Before coming to Portland, Dr. Ho held several key leadership roles with Honolulu Community College, including vice chancellor for academic affairs, division dean of student support, and dean of students.

“Dr. Ho is exactly the kind of leader we need for the next phase of PCC,” said Tiffani Penson, chair of PCC’s board of directors. “Her educational background, professional experience, approach to leadership, and commitment to PCC’s mission will provide a stabilizing presence across our campuses. We ask the entire community to welcome her in this important role as a leader and a partner in building our future at PCC together.”

A graduate of the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communications, Dr. Ho holds a master’s degree in student services administration and a doctorate in community college leadership from Oregon State University. She currently serves on the board of trustees for Portland State University.
