Ann Marie Fallon Appointed President of the University of Saint Mary in Kansas

Ann Marie Fallon has been named the tenth president of the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. She will begin her new role in July.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, the University of Saint Mary enrolls more than 1,000 undergraduates, 47 percent of whom are women. The university has a graduate population of some 400 students.

Dr. Fallon comes to her new role from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York, where she has served as dean of the School of Arts and Sciences since 2018. Previously, she was provost at Marylhurst University in Oregon and director of the University Honors College at Portland State University in Oregon. As a professor, she has taught courses in humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and American studies.

“It is an honor and a profound privilege to be asked to serve as the president of the University of Saint Mary,” said Dr. Fallon. “I am deeply inspired by the university’s time-honored mission and core values of community, justice, respect, and excellence. As we move forward together, I am committed to upholding these values in everything we do.”

An honors graduate of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Fallon earned her master’s degree in English literature with a graduate certificate in women’s studies and her Ph.D. in English language, literature, and research from the University of Virginia.
