Kristen Jones to Lead the College of Lake County in Illinois

Kristen Jones has been selected to serve as interim president of the College of Lake County in Illinois. Effective May 1, she will succeed Lori Suddick, who is slated to assume the presidency of Des Moines Area Community College this summer.

According to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education, the College of Lake County enrolls more than 12,500 students across its three campuses. Women represent about 57 percent of the student body

Dr. Jones has served as vice president of education and chief academic officer at the College of Lake County for the past three years. Previously, she was provost at Bellevue College in Washington, where she oversaw academic affairs, student affairs, international education, institutional research, continuing education, accreditation, and grants.

“I am honored to have been asked to serve as the interim president,” said Dr. Jones. “CLC’s commitment to teaching and learning excellence and focus on equity and student success inspires me. I’m looking forward to working with the board to provide leadership for the college over the next several months.”

Dr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in counseling and a doctorate in community college leadership from Oregon State University.
