Lincoln Land Community College President Charlotte Warren to Retire in 2026

Charlotte Warren, the first woman president of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, has announced her intent to retire in June 2026.

Dr. Warren was named the sixth president of LLCC in 2006. During her tenure, the college has built four new facilities and renovated nine others, secured millions of dollars in gifts and grant funding, developed new academic programs and workforce training opportunities, and enhanced its community partnerships.

Before her current role, Dr. Warren was president of the Community College Alliance and vice president of the virtual campus at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Earlier in career, she was provost at Georgia Perimeter College and dean of nursing at Georgia State University. She has served as president of the Georgia Nurses Association and the Illinois Council of Community College Presidents. Currently, Dr. Warren sits on the board of the American Association of Community Colleges.

“Serving our students and strengthening the communities we call home has been a privilege beyond measure,” said Dr. Warren. “I am deeply proud of all that LLCC’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders have accomplished and continue to accomplish together. LLCC is an institution of learning and so much more. It’s a place where dreams take root and bright futures take shape.”

Dr. Warren received her bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She holds a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Virginia.
