Mary Sortino to Lead Graduate Studies at Fairmont State University

Mary Sortino has been named dean of graduate studies and professional education at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. In her new role, she will oversee all of the university’s master’s degree and continuing education programs, including curriculum development, recruitment, and retention.

Dr. Sortino comes to her new role after nearly a decade with Gwynedd Mercy University in Pennsylvania, where she most recently served as dean of the School of Business and Education. With over two decades of higher education experience, she previously held leadership roles with the University of Phoenix, Delaware Technical and Community College, Rosemont College, Cabrini University, and Wesley College.

“Dr. Sortino’s impressive background and concrete results in higher education make her an excellent addition to the university,” said Mike Davis, president of Fairmont State University. “She brings extensive experience developing innovative academic programs and fostering student success. I am confident that under Mary’s leadership, Fairmont State will build on our reputation as a Great Place to Learn, strengthening the dynamic, career-focused graduate and professional programs that students can choose from.”

A graduate of West Chester University in Pennsylvania, Dr. Sortino holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology, a master of health administration degree, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Widener University in Pennsylvania.
