New Administrative Duties for Six Women in Higher Education

Margaret Lo is the new chief sustainability officer at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Most recently, she was the director of business engagement at the Institute for Market Transformation in Washington, D.C. Earlier she led sustainability efforts at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and the University of Central Florida.

Lo earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Binghamton University in New York. She holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Pat Kendrick was appointed interim executive director of athletics and recreation at Xavier University in New Orleans. She has been the head women’s volleyball coach at the university for the past six years. Prior to joining the staff at Xavier University, she served in various roles as a coach and instructor with USA Volleyball.

A native of Lorton, Virginia, Kendrick is a graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she was a two-sport athlete in volleyball and track & field.

Angela Abbott has been named interim associate dean and director of Purdue Extension. She has been serving as the assistant dean for outreach and engagement for the College of Health and Human Sciences and associate director for Purdue Extension. Dr. Abbott joined Purdue Extension and the College of Health and Human Sciences in 1999. She was promoted to associate director of Purdue Extension in 2014.

Dr. Abbott earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Alejandra “Ale” Sosa Pieroni was named executive vice president for enrollment management, marketing, and student success at Georgia Southern University. She has been serving as vice president for the consulting firm Ruffalo Noel Levitz, working with colleges and universities across the country to help them optimize their marketing, admissions, financial aid, and student success practices.

Sosa Pieroni earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from Tiffin University in Ohio. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Georgia.

Alexis A. Antracoli has been named director of the University of Michigan’s Bentley Historical Library, effective May 1. She has been serving as an assistant university librarian for special collections and technical services at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Dr. Antracoli received a bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 1997. She holds a master’s degree in history from the University of Connecticut and a Ph.D. in American history from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. She also holds a master’s degree in archives and records management from the University of Michigan.

Brittney Johnson was named senior associate athletic director for compliance and senior woman administrator at Florida A&M University. Before joining FAMU, Johnson served as the associate athletic director for student-athlete development and academic success at the University of South Alabama.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from the University of Alabama in 2007. She holds a master’s degree in foods, nutrition, and wellness studies from Alabama A&M University and is working on a doctorate from Walden University.

Ayanna Howard Appointed the Twelfth President of Spelman College in Atlanta

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
