Kamala C. Kiem was appointed associate provost and dean of students at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, effective January 3. Since 2008, she has held several leadership positions within student affairs at Fairfield University in Connecticut, serving as associate dean of students and director of student engagement for the past six years.
Kiem earned her bachelor’s degree at Florida International University. She holds a master’s degree in student affairs administration from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in social justice education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Jennifer Sullivan was named dean of the Graduate School at Augusta University in Georgia. She has served as interim dean of the school since July 2020. Dr. Sullivan, a professor in the department of physiology, joined the faculty at the university in 2014. Her research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate blood pressure and renal health and function.
Professor Sullivan is a graduate of the State University of New York at Genesco, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cardiovascular pharmacology from Albany Medical College in New York.
Tonya Edmond, professor and associate dean for social work and social policy, at the Brown School of social work at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named co-interim dean of the school, effective January 1. Dr. Edmond has been a faculty fellow in the Office of the Provost, working on women faculty leadership development and other diversity and inclusion initiatives. She also currently serves as co-director of the Center for Violence and Injury Prevention at the university. Her research focuses on testing the effectiveness of interventions for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and intimate partner violence.
Professor Edmond is a graduate of Kansas State University, where she majored in social work. She holds a master of social work degree and a Ph.D. in social work from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
