Beverly Davenport Sypher has been chosen as the next provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Cincinnati. She has been serving as vice provost for faculty affairs at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Earlier in her career, she was a senior fellow in the office of the provost at Virginia Tech, divisional dean for the social sciences at the University of Kansas, and chair of the department of communication at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Davenport Sypher will begin her new job at the University of Cincinnati on July 1.
Dr. Davenport Sypher holds bachelor’s degrees in communication and journalism from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
