Appointments to Dean for Five Women Scholars

misra-Kalpana Misra, an associate professor of political science was named dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. A member of the university’s faculty since 1988, she has served as associate dean since 2003.

Dr. Misra holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Delhi in India. She earned a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan.

McDanialAnnnAnna M. McDaniel was appointed dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Florida. Her appointment will be effective this summer. Currently, she serves as associate dean for research at the Indiana University School of Nursing. She has been on the faculty at Indiana University since 1992. She previously taught at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Dr. McDaniel holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University and a doctor of nursing science degree from Indiana University.

Raymond_WendyWendy E. Raymond was named dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Davidson College in North Carolina. Her appointment is effective August 1. She is currently serving as a professor of biology and was formerly associate dean for institutional diversity at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Dr. Raymond has been on the faculty at Williams for 19 years.

A graduate of Cornell University, Professor Raymond holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Harvard University.

styronKelli C. Styron was appointed dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. She has served in the post on an interim basis for the past 18 months. She has served as chair of the department of social work, sociology, and criminal justice at the university.

Stryon holds bachelor’s and law degrees from Baylor University.

claycomb_mug_optCindy Claycomb was named interim dean of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University in Kansas. She will serve in the post for the 2013-14 academic year while a national search is conducted for a permanent dean. Dr. Claycomb joined the faculty at the university in 1994 as an assistant professor. She was promoted to associate professor in 2000 and to full professor in 2006.

Dr. Claycomb holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wichita State University and a Ph.D. in marketing from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
