René Sawyer is the new dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Greenville Technical College in South Carolina and Susan Pepin has been named inaugural dean of the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences at the University of Tulsa.

Three Women Who Have Been Appointed to Higher Education Diversity Positions

Markeisha Miner was appointed vice president for community, equity, and diversity at the University of Rhode Island. Sheryl R. Wilson will be the inaugural vice president for culture and belonging at Bethel College in Kansas, effective July 1, 2024, and Dionne Lambert is the new director of diversity, equity, and inclusion education and training at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.

In Memoriam: Elizabeth Mary McCormick, 1963 -2023

At the University of Tulsa College of Law, Professor McCormick founded the Immigrant Rights Project. She was the first associate dean of experiential learning, interim dean in the fall 2001 semester, and served for several semesters as the associate dean of academic affairs.

Karen Petersen Will Be the Thirteenth President and Second Woman to Lead Hendrix College in Arkansas

Dr. Petersen currently serves as a professor of political science and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. Earlier, Dr. Petersen served for nearly 16 years at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. In addition to being a faculty member, she served in three progressively responsible leadership roles culminating with her tenure as dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

In Memoriam: Jean Harmon Langenheim, 1925-2021

Professor Langenheim was a plant ecologist and leading authority on amber and plant resins. Her investigations included fieldwork on five continents. A woman of many "firsts", Dr. Lanenheim taught at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1966 to 1994.

Patti Neuhold Has Been Selected as the Next President of the University of Central Oklahoma

Dr. Neuhold currently serves as the university's vice president for finance and chief financial officer. She has been an administrator at the the university since 2007. Before joining the University of Central Oklahoma, Dr. Nehold served as general manager of operations at Ethan Allen Retail, Inc.

Janet Levit Will Be the First Woman Provost at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma

Since January 2017, Professor Levit has served as vice president for strategic initiatives at the University of Tulsa. Previously, she was dean of College of Law at the university. She was the first woman to serve in that position.

Meredith College to Offer New Programs in Entrepreneurship

The School of Business at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. will offer an interdisciplinary minor in entrepreneurship for women undergraduate students. Students in the co-educational MBA program at the college also will be able to concentrate in entrepreneurship.
