At Florida State University, Dr. Cook conducts research with the department of psychology and the Learning Systems Institute on topics relating to children's development of skills that underlie their long-term academic success. In addition to her own research, she has been advocate for advancing access to healthcare, childcare, and parental leave for other FSU postdocs.
The new deans are Aneika L. Simmons at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, Kim Petersen at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Julia Bear at Stony Brook University in New York, and Christian Spears Brown at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

“Especially since the fall of 2021, female college students have been passing fewer classes and experiencing slower credit accumulation compared to female college students before the pandemic,” said Dr. Dora Gicheva of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. “And this gap is relatively greater than the one we see for male college students.”
Dr. Praskievicz passed away in August following a battle with cancer. She was an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she taught and conducted research in the areas of hydrologly, fluvial geomorphology, and water resources.
A longtime member of the University of Arkansas community, Dr. Murphy-Erby was the first woman to serve as vice chancellor of diversity and inclusion at the institution. She was a full professor of social work who studied family well-being in underserved populations and the child welfare system.

The deans are Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz at Barnard College in New York City, Jan Jurden at Wilmington University in Delaware, Yarneccia Dyson at the University of Houston, Kelly Jouce at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Roxanne Schroeder-Arce at Ohio University.
“I’m honored to take on this new role at AACTE, an organization with such a rich tradition of leadership, advocacy, and innovation,” Dr. Holcomb-McCoy said. She will assume her new role in January after eight years as dean of School of Education at American University in Washington. D.C.
Dr. Pitre-Martin currently serves as director of UNC Greensboro's SERVE Center. She has significant experience in North Carolina public service, previously serving in several roles within the Department of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education.
Dr. Mince brings nearly four decades of community college leadership to her new role, including seven years as a senior administrator at Carroll Community College.
