Eight Women Who Have Been Named to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Karla Bird was appointed tribal outreach specialist in the Office of the President at the University of Montana. She will begin her new job on January 3. A member of the Amskapi Piikani Nation, Dr. Bird most recently served as president of Blackfeet Community College in South Browning, Montana.

Dr. Bird holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counselor education, and a doctorate in higher education leadership, all from the University of Montana.

Stephanie Rogers was appointed executive vice president of institutional advancement and development at Dillard University in New Orleans, effective January 1. Since 2017, Rogers has served as chief advancement officer at Southern University at Shreveport. Earlier, she was the director of institutional advancement and the executive director of the BPCC Foundation at Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana.

Rogers earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and organizational management from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

Joanna McNulty is the new associate vice president for academic finance and administration at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. McNulty has worked at the university for 20 years. She is the former senior director of planning and business operations.

McNulty is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she majored in biology. She completed a secondary teacher certification program at Indiana University.

Colette Geary has been named interim vice president for mission and strategic initiatives at Manhattan College in The Bronx, New York, effective January 30, 2023. She has been serving as vice president for enrollment management. Dr. Geary is the former president of St. Scholastica College in Duluth, Minnesota.

Dr. Geary holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Manhattan College, a master’s degree in theology from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. in psychology from Stony Brook University in New York.

Lauretta Hill, a law enforcement veteran with nearly three decades of experience in public safety, has been named assistant vice president/chief in the Department of Public Safety at the University of Southern California. For the past six years, Hill has been chief of the Dallas College Police Department in Texas.

Hill holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She earned a master’s degree at Texas Christian University.

Cori Coffman was appointed assistant dean of students at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. Most recently, she served as event experience manager at Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant in residence life and student programming at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Coffman holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management from Davis & Elkins College. She earned an MBA from West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Deidra Harris-Lumpkins has been appointed associate vice chancellor for human resources and university affirmative action officer at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, effective January 30. She has been serving as associate director for human resources operations at Davidson College in North Carolina.

Harris-Lumpkins holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University in New Orleans.

Kathryn Mullins has been named the new vice president of advancement and marketing at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. Since 2012, she has been the executive director of the Grand Rapid Community College Foundation.

Dr. Mullins earned a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from Baker College in Owasso, Michigan. She holds a doctoral degree in community college leadership from Ferris State University.
