Two Women Selected to Lead Regional Campuses of the University of Connecticut

Fumiko Hoeft was appointed interim director of the Waterbury campus of the University of Connecticut. The campus enrolls just under 900 students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 57 percent of the student body.
Dr. Hoeft joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 2018 as a professor of psychological sciences. She is also the director of the Brain Imaging Research Center. Earlier, she taught at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Hoeft holds undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
Jennifer Orlikoff will the next director of the university’s Stamford campus. This campus enrolls more than 2,300 students. Women make up 51 percent of the students on the Stamford campus. She will begin this new role on July 1, 2022.
A faculty member and administrator at West Virginia University since 2008, she served as campus president of WVU-Potomac State College for the past six years. Earlier, she was a faculty member in the department of world languages, literatures, and linguistics and was the director of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies.
Dr. Orlikoff earned a bachelor’s degree in French and art history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in French literature from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
