Five Women Scholars Appointed to Positions as Deans

Elizabeth Frombgen was named dean of the college and vice president for academic affairs at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania. She was associate vice president for academic affairs and a professor of political science at Hastings College in Nebraska.

Dr. Frombgen is a graduate of Western Washington University in Bellingham. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Linda Caron was promoted to dean of the college at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She has served as associate dean since 2009. Dr. Caron joined the faculty at the university in 1988.

Dr. Caron is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in art history. She holds a Ph.D. in the history of art from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

Julie Zerwic will be the next dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Iowa. Since 2009, she has been serving as executive associate dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She joined the faculty at the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1993.

Dr. Zerwic is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.

Mary Farrell was appointed dean of University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has been serving as dean of libraries at Clemson University in South Carolina. Earlier, she was dean of libraries at the University of Wyoming for 13 years.

Farrell is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She holds a master of public administration degree from Arizona State University and a master of library science degree from the University of Arizona.

Donna M. Eddleman was named dean of student affairs at the University of Redlands in California. She has been serving as vice president for student affairs at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York.

Dr. Eddleman is a graduate of the University at Albany of the State University of New York System. She holds a master’s degree in human resource management from Utah State University and a doctorate in educational policy, planning, and leadership from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
