New Teaching Posts for Seven Women in Higher Education

csm_Archbold_Carol_02_f2a33c0c5eCarol Archbold was named to the Walter F. and Verna Gehrts Endowed Professorship at North Dakota State University in Fargo. She was an associate professor of criminal justice and political science at the university. Dr. Archbold joined the university’s faculty in 2005.

Professor Archbold holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology from the University of North Dakota. She earned a Ph.D. in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

omalleyJulia O’Malley was appointed to the Atwood Chair of Journalism at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. From 2009 to 2014, O’Malley wrote a column on Alaskan life and politics for the Anchorage Daily News.

O’Malley will teach an introductory course on reporting, a course on reporting and writing news, and a course on food journalism.

08-1592-002Anna di Robilant was promoted to full professor at the Boston University School of Law. She specializes in property law and comparative law between the United States and Europe

Professor di Robilant holds law degrees from the University of Turin in Italy and Harvard Law School. She also earned a Ph.D. in comparative private law from the University of Trento in Italy.

Nomsa E. Geleta was appointed chair of the department of education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She has been serving as dean of the School of Education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

A graduate of the University of Zululand in South Africa, Dr. Geleta holds a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from Oklahoma State University.

michelle-bellMichelle L. Bell was named the Mary E. Pinchot Professor of Environmental Health at Yale University. She joined the Yale University faculty in 2004 as an assistant professor of environmental health.

Professor Bell is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She holds a master’s degree from Stanford University and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University.

wescottKathryn Westcott was promoted to full professor of psychology at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. She joined the faculty at the college in 2003 and was promoted to associate professor in 2009.

Professor Westcott is a graduate of Ohio State University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Cincinnati.

Fishbein_SmallDiana H. Fishbein was appointed to the C. Eugene Bennett Chair in Prevention Research at Pennsylvania State University. She will also serve as director of the Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center and as a professor of human development and family studies. She has been serving as a professor of psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Fishbein holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland and Florida State University. She earned a master’s degree in criminology and a Ph.D. in criminology and psychobiology from Florida State University.

Caroline Attardo Genco Named the First Woman President of the University at Buffalo

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
