Joan Hinde Stewart, president of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, has announced that she will leave her post after the 2015-16 academic year. Dr. Stewart became president of Hamilton College on July 1, 2003. She is the only woman to serve as president of Hamilton College in the institution’s 200-year history.
Before becoming president of Hamilton, Dr. Stewart was dean of the College of Liberal Arts and professor of French at the University of South Carolina. She is a summa cum laude graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, New York, and holds a Ph.D. from Yale University.
Linda Koch Lorimer, vice president for global and strategic initiatives at Yale University, will retire in April 2015. She will continue on at Yale as a part-time senior counselor to the president until December 2016. She is the only woman to serve both as an officer of the university and a member of the board of trustees.
Lorimer is a graduate of Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia, and the Yale Law School.
Judith Picard Cronk will step down from her post as professor of costume design and technology in the department of theatre at Oklahoma State University on February 10. She has served on the university’s faculty since 1991.
Professor Cronk is graduate of Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She holds a master of fine arts degree in costume design from Wayne State University in Detroit.
