Pamela Walker was appointed vice chancellor for academic affairs for the California Community Colleges system. She has been serving as interim president of American River College in Sacramento. From 2006 to 2014 when she was named interim president, Dr. Walker was vice president for student services at American River College.
Dr. Walker is a graduate of Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. She holds a master’s degree from Sacramento State University and an educational doctorate from the University of San Francisco.
Donna Stewart was named vice president for academic affairs at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. She has been serving as dean of the Division of Business and Technology at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
Dr. Stewart holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She earned a doctorate in vocational education at the University of Minnesota.
Jennifer Seal was promoted to vice president for planning and institutional research at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. She has served as director of institutional effectiveness. She joined the faculty at the college in 2002.
Dr. Seal holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. She earned a doctorate in community college leadership from Mississippi State University.
Cynthia Noyes was appointed director of the Betsy Dole Women’s Resource Center at Olivet College in Michigan. She is an associate professor of sociology/anthropology and chair of the social science department at the college. Professor Noyes is also the director of the women and gender studies program. She became a full-time faculty member at Olivet College in 2001.
Professor Noyes is a graduate of the University of Illinois and the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
Myra Blanco is the new director of the Center for Automated Vehicle Systems at Virginia Tech. She has been serving as director of the Safety and Human Factors Engineering Group at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.
Dr. Blanco is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico. She earned a master’s degree and Ph.D. in industrial and system engineering from Virginia Tech.
Kimberly Luce was named chief of staff for the president of Valdosta State University. She was chief of staff and assistant secretary to the board of trustees at North Carolina Central University in Durham.
Dr. Luce holds a master’s degree in human resources and development from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a doctorate in education foundations from the University of Cincinnati.
Sherry J. Yennello, Regents Professor of Chemistry at Texas A&M University, was appointed director of the Cyclotron Institute, which conducts research in nuclear physics and chemistry as well as radiation testing. The institute is supported with grants from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Dr. Yennello joined the faculty at Texas A&M University in 1993. She earned a Ph.D. from Indiana University and conducted postdoctoral research at Michigan State University.
Mia Henry was named executive director of the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership at Kalamazoo College in Michigan. For the past four years, Henry has served on the national leadership team for Black Space, an initiative of Safe Places for the Advancement of Community and Equity.
Henry is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she majored in sociology and criminal justice. She earned a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Pennsylvania.
Susan Salvador was named vice president for enrollment and student affairs at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. From 1988 to 2013, she served in several posts at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. Her most recent position was vice president for student services.
Dr. Salvador is a graduate of Sienna College in Loudonville, New York. She holds a master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Michigan.
Terry Bumgardner was appointed director of development for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas. She had held a similar position with the university’s Fay Jones School of Architecture. She joined the staff at the university in 2003.
Bumgardner is a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
Gina Crabtree was promoted to director of enrollment services at Wichita State University in Kansas. Since 2012, she has been registrar at the university and will continue to hold that post. Crabtree joined the staff at the university in 1995.
Crabtree is a graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. She earned an MBA at Wichita State University.
Tommye Lou Davis was promoted to chief of staff for the president of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She will continue in her role as vice president for constituent engagement. Davis joined the faculty at Baylor in 1966 as an instructor in Latin.
Davis holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in educational psychology from Baylor University.
Pauline Entin was appointed vice provost for academic affairs at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Dr. Entin has been on the faculty at the university since 2001 and is a professor of exercise science. Since 2012, she has served as associate dean for academic affairs for the College of Engineering, Forestry, and Natural Sciences.
Professor Entin is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She holds a Ph.D. in physiology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Calandra Waters Lake was named the inaugural director of sustainability at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. For the past six years, Lake has been teaching environmental science at Grafton High School in Virginia.
Lake is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where she majored in natural resources. She holds a master’s degree in education from the College of William and Mary.
Saleha Suleman was named assistant vice president for international initiatives at Towson University in Maryland. For the past six years, Dr. Suleman has been assistant vice provost for international affairs at the University of North Texas in Denton.
Dr. Suleman holds master’s degrees from Punjab University in Lahore, Pakistan, and Iowa State University. She earned a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Elizabeth Cowell is the new University Librarian at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has served in the post on an interim basis for the past year. She joined the staff in 2008 as an associate librarian for public services.
Cowell holds a master of library and information sciences degree from the University of Illinois.
