New Administrative Posts in Higher Education for Nine Women

Enku_Gelaye_MG_6896Enku Gelaye was promoted to vice chancellor for student affairs and campus life at the University of Massachusetts. She has been serving as interim vice chancellor and previously was associate vice chancellor and dean of students. Before joining the staff at the University of Massachusetts in 2011, Dr. Gelaye was executive officer for the vice chancellor of student affairs at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Gelaye is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and holds a juris doctorate from the University of Georgia.

Gilda GelyGilda Gely was named executive vice president and provost at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since 2007, Dr. Gely has been provost at Grand Rapids Community College. Earlier, Dr. Gely served as interim dean of academic affairs at the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao. She is expected to start her new job in May.

Gely is a graduate of Kansas State University. She holds a master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College and a Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Illinois.

McRorieSally E. McRorie was named interim provost at Florida State University. She replaces Garnett Stokes who will serve as interim president of Florida State upon the departure of President Eric Barron to be president of Pennsylvania State University. Dr. McRorie has been serving as vice president for faculty development and advancement. Earlier, she was the inaugural dean of the university’s College of Visual Arts, Theatre, and Dance.

Dr. McRorie earned a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University and a doctorate in art education from the University of Kansas.

Jessica KennedyJessica W. Kennedy was named the inaugural Title IX coordinator at Washington University in St. Louis. She was a commercial litigator for the law firm Berry & Maxson in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Kennedy is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, where she majored in political science. She earned her law degree at the Washington University School of Law.

grover-contentSusan Grover was appointed vice provost for academic and faculty affairs at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She is the University Professor for Teaching Excellence at the William & Mary Law School. She joined the faculty in 1998. Professor Grover will begin her new role in July.

Professor Grover is a graduate of Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. She earned her law degree at Georgetown University.

ParanicaKristine Paranica was named university ombudsperson at North Dakota State University. She has been serving as director of the University of North Dakota Conflict Resolution Center in Grand Forks.

Paranica is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, where she majored in social work, and the University of North Dakota School of Law.

susan-wilsonSusan Wilson was appointed vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has been serving as associate dean at the university’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, all from the University of Pittsburgh. She also earned an MBA at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

susan_boswellSusan Boswell was named special adviser to the vice provost for student affairs at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, effective July 1. She has been on the staff at the university since 1986 and currently serves as dean of student life.

Dr. Boswell is a graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland. She holds a doctorate in counseling psychology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

betsingerAlicia Betsinger was appointed associate provost for institutional research at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She has been serving as assistant director of the Office for Strategic Initiatives at the University of Texas System.

Dr. Betsinger holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in experimental psychology, all from Saint Louis University.

Dr. Wisdom, superintendent of New Bloomfield R-III Schools in Missouri, is a four-time graduate of William Woods University. She is slated to assume the presidency of alma mater on July 1.
