Carrie Hoverman Colla has been appointed dean of the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dr. Colla, the Susan J. and Richard M. Levy Distinguished Professor in Health Care Delivery Science at the Geisel School of Medicine, currently serves as vice chair of the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice. As a scholar, she studies how healthcare systems can be made more affordable and equitable while improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Colla is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where she majored in economics and minored in public policy. She holds a master’s degree in economics and a Ph.D. in health policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
Caddie Putnam Rankin is the founding dean of the Warehime School of Business at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. Dr. Rankin, associate professor of business management at the college, previously served as associate dean of the business program and chair of the business management department. Her research explores corporate social responsibility, organizational legitimacy, professionalization, and the role of business as a force for positive social impact.
Dr. Rankin is a graduate of Connecticut College, where she majored in sociology with a minor in international politics. She earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in sociology with a specialization in organizational theory and corporate social responsibility from Emory University in Atlanta.
Dawna Jones was promoted to associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. A Duke administrator for the past five years, Dr. Jones most recently served as assistant vice president for identity centers and community development. Before that role, she was director of Duke’s Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture. Prior to joining the university, Dr. Jones spent eight years in student affairs roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Jones is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in social work from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in higher education management from the University of Pittsburgh, and a doctorate in transformative leadership for civic and community engagement from North Carolina A&T State University.
Sarah Hartman was named dean of academic operations and the education division at Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tennessee. Dr. Hartman has extensive experience leading education programs at universities. For the past year, she has been dean of the School of Education and Graduate Studies at Peru State College in Nebraska. She has also served as dean of the Don A. Williams School of Education at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, chair of the College of Education at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, and director of field experiences at the College of Coastal Georgia.
Dr. Hartman holds a bachelor’s degree in child and family development from San Diego State University in California, a master’s degree in elementary education from Alabama State University, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction for elementary education from the University of Alabama.
