Danielle Evans has announced that she will be joining the faculty at the University of Wisconsin this coming fall. She currently serves as an assistant professor of literature at American University in Washington, D.C. Evans is the author of the award-winning short-story collection Before You Suffocate Your Own Fool Self (Riverhead, 2010).
Evans is a graduate of Columbia University and holds a master of fine arts degree from the Iowa Writer’s Workshop. She is a former fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing.
Maya Ajmera was appointed the first social entrepreneur in residence at Duke University and a visiting professor of the practice of public policy at the university’s Sanford School of Public Policy. Ajmera is the founder of the nonprofit organization, Global Fund for Children and is the author of more than 15 children’s books.
Ajmera is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from Duke University.
Nora Berrah is the new chair and professor in the department of physics at the University of Connecticut. She had been serving as a Distinguished University Professor at Western Michigan University.
Professor Berrah grew up in Algeria and attended the Universite d’Alger. She earned a Ph.D. in physics at the University of Virginia and did two years of postdoctoral research at the Argonne National Laboratory.
