Eleanor M. Green, the Carl B. King Dean of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University, was inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas. There are now 211 members of the Hall of Fame. Dr. Green has owned and shown horses for nearly 60 years, winning numerous state championships.
Dr. Green has been dean at Texas A&M since 2009. Previously, she was professor and chair of the large animal clinical sciences department and the chief of staff at the Large Animal Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at the University of Florida.
Dr. Green is a graduate of the University of Florida and was one of only three women in her graduating class at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was the first woman to join the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University. In 1974, she was the first woman to officiate at a National Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Contest. Dr. Green is the past president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians.
