Six Women in New Teaching Roles

Teresa I. Francis, an associate professor, was named chair of the department of law and justice at the Pierce County campus of Central Washington University in Lakewood.

Professor Francis is a graduate of the University of New Mexico where she majored in political science. She earned her juris doctorate at the Mississippi College School of Law and earned a master’s degree in law at the Buffalo School of Law.

Anette Hosoi was named associate head for education in the department of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Hosoi joined the department in 2002 as an assistant professor and was promoted to full professor earlier this year.

Professor Hosoi is a graduate of Princeton University, where she majored in physics. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago.

Margarita Blush, was appointed an assistant professor of dramatic arts in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Connecticut. She will be teaching in the puppetry arts program. She was teaching theater at the Ricks Center, a school for gifted children on the campus of the University of Denver.

Blush holds a master of fine arts degree from the Bulgarian National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts.

Carolyn Rude was named professor emerita of English at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. She has been on the faculty at Virginia Tech since 2003 and served as chair of the English department from 2006 to 2011.

Dr. Rude is a graduate of Grove City College in Pennsylvania. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois.

Eno E. Ebong was hired as an assistant professor of chemical engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. Her research focuses on the mechanical forces of blood flow. She was a visiting assistant professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in The Bronx, New York.

Dr. Ebong is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

Donna Albertson was appointed a tenured professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the New York University College of Dentistry. She will also serve as a member of the faculty at the Bluestone Center for Clinical Research and the NYU Oral Cancer Center. She was a professor of laboratory medicine and held the Evelyn and Mattie Anderson Endowed Chair in Cancer Research at the University of California at San Francisco.

Dr. Albertson holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Harvard University.
