Heidi McCauley Honored for Distinguished Contributions to Digital Writing Studies

At the recent Computers and Writing Conference hosted by the University of Georgia, Heidi McCauley, professor of rhetoric and writing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, received the 2025 Charles Moran Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Field of Computers and Composition. Presented annually, the award honors outstanding scholarship and service in the digital writing field.

A UA Little Rock faculty member for more than a decade, Dr. McCauley serves as graduate coordinator for the master’s degree in professional and technical writing, as well as the graduate certificates in online writing instruction and business and professional writing. Her current research centers on the intersection of writing and emerging technologies, such as generative AI. Dr. McCauley’s most recent books are Norman Maclean’s “A River Runs Through It”: The Search for Beauty (Routledge, 2024) and Multimedia in the College Classroom: Improve Learning and Connect With Students in Online and Hybrid Classes (Routledge, 2024).

Dr. McCauley holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri, a master’s degree in composition and rhetoric from Missouri State University, as well as a second master’s degree in creative writing and a Ph.D. in composition and rhetoric both from Ball State University in Indiana.
