Five Women Scholars Appointed to Endowed Faculty Positions

Kizzmekia Corbett-Helaire has been named the Melvin J. and Geraldine L. Glimcher Assistant Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. As a viral immunologist, she focuses on developing vaccines for emerging and re-emerging viruses in an effort to increase global pandemic preparedness. Her research was essential in developing the first SARS-CoV-2 vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Corbett-Helaire is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she double-majored in biological sciences and sociology. She holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Martina Droth has been named the Paul Mellon Director of the Yale Center for British Art. She has been with the museum since 2009, most recently serving as deputy director and chief curator. Previously, she was deputy director of research, exhibitions, and publications and curator of sculpture. She is currently the co-editor of the journal British Art Studies and chair of the Association of Research Institutes in Art History.

Dr. Droth received her bachelor’s degree from the University of the Arts London, a master’s degree from the University of London, and her Ph.D. from the University of Reading in England.

Adriana Petryna has been named the Francis E. Johnston Term Professor of Anthropology in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. A scholar of the socio-political nature of science, she currently directs Penn’s joint MD/Ph.D. program in anthropology. Her most recent book is Horizon Work: At the Edges of Knowledge in an Age of Runaway Climate Change (Princeton University Press, 2024).

Dr. Petryna is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she majored in architecture. She holds a master of architecture degree, a master’s degree in anthropology, and a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Nicole Eikmeier has been named the Luebke-Sproehnle Endowed Junior Faculty Professor at Grinnell College in Iowa. She joined the Grinnell faculty in 2019 as an assistant professor of computer science. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on network science, particularly models and higher order interactions.

Dr. Eikmeir is a graduate of Concordia College in Minnesota, where she double-majored in mathematics and computer science. She holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from Purdue University.

Christine Glastonbury has been named to the Elizabeth A. Guillaumin Endowed Chair in Neuroradiology at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition to her faculty appointment, she serves as the university’s radiology vice chair for academic affairs. Her academic and clinical expertise centers on head and neck imaging and the imaging of brain degenerative, autoimmune, and neoplastic disease.

Dr. Glastonbury received her medical degree from the University of Adelaide in South Australia.
