University of Arkansas’ Ana Bridges to Serve as President of National Latinx Psychological Association

Ana Bridges, professor in the department of psychological science at the University of Arkansas, has been elected to serve as the 2024 president of the National Latinx Psychological Association. For the past two years, Professor Bridges has served as the organization’s treasurer and acting secretary.

The association’s mission is to “generate and advance psychological knowledge and foster its effective application for the benefit of the Latinx population.” The organization produces its own professional journal, the Journal of Latinx Psychology, which is published by the American Psychological Association.

At the University of Arkansas, Dr. Bridges is the director of clinical training for the doctoral program in clinical psychology, and director of the Diversity Research and Enhanced Access for Minorities (DREAM) lab. Her research focuses on understanding and reducing mental health disparities in vulnerable, underserved populations.

Professor Bridges is a graduate of the University of Illinois. She earned a master’s degree in psychology at Illinois State University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Rhode Island.
