Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointments of Four Women Deans

Rosalie Mainous has been named the sixth dean of the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. She is scheduled to take office on November 14, 2022. She taught at the University of Louisville and most recently served as special assistant to the provost at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She is the former dean of the College of Nursing at Texas Woman’s University.

Dr. Mainous is a graduate of the University of Louisville, where she majored in nursing. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Kentucky.

Amber Kautzman was appointed interim dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education at Jamestown Community College in New York. She has been an associate professor of mathematics at the college since 2000.

Kautzman earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer systems from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree in mathematics from Miami University in Ohio.

Holly Powell Kennedy, an internationally renowned midwifery investigator and educator at Yale School of Nursing, will serve as the school’s interim dean beginning on January 1. Dr. Kennedy has been part of the Yale faculty since 2009 when she was appointed the university’s first Helen Varney Professor of Midwifery.

Dr. Kennedy holds a bachelor’s degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu. She earned a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from the Medical College of Georgia, and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Rhode Island.

Jennifer K. Rushlow has been named dean of the newly announced Vermont School for the Environment. The environmental public policy school overseen by Rushlow will focus on climate change, environmental justice, sustainable food and agriculture, clean energy, and animal protection. Since joining the faculty in 2015, Rushlow has served as associate dean for environmental programs, professor of law, and, most recently, interim graduate school dean.

Rushlow holds a juris doctorate from the Northeastern University School of Law. She earned a master of public health degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston
