Eight Women Who Are Taking on New Administrative Duties at American Universities

Shantay Bolton has been appointed executive vice chancellor for administration and chief administrative officer at Washington University in St. Louis, effective July 1. She currently serves as vice president and deputy chief operating officer at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Dr. Bolton earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Alabama A&M University. She went on to earn a doctorate in organizational psychology with a concentration in industrial psychology from Walden University and an MBA from Florida International University.

Sarah O’Connor Siereveld is the new director of alumni at the University of Louisiana Monroe. She is the former business manager for Capital City Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin.

Siereveld is a graduate of Syracuse University in New York, where she majored in musical theater. She holds an MBA from the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Ganga Baskar was appointed commercialization program director for the Innovation Hub at Texas Tech University. Prior to joining Texas Tech, Ganga was a core team member of NemaLife Inc., a startup based out of Texas Tech, where she was involved in both research and business development activities.

Dr. Baskar holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in human genetics from Sri Ramachandra University in India

Costin Dawn Shamble has been appointed director of the Office of Conflict of Interest and Commitment Management at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She joins Vanderbilt from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, where she has served as university attorney for the past four years.

Shamble is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta. She earned her law degree at Vanderbilt University.

Angela Polec is taking on new duties as vice president of enrollment, marketing, and communications at La Salle University in Philadelphia. She has been serving as vice president of marketing and communications.

Dr. Pole holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in marketing from Temple University in Philadelphia. She earned a doctorate in higher education management at the University of Pennsylvania.

Charmelle Green has been named deputy athletics director for internal operations at the University of Utah. She has spent the past 10 years in the athletics department at Pennsylvania State University, serving most recently as senior associate athletics director for student-athlete performance, health and welfare, and senior woman administrator.

After an All-America softball career at the University of Utah, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, Green played one season of professional softball in New Zealand following graduation. She holds a master’s degree in secondary education from Indiana University-South Bend.

Abby Coffin will serve as the executive director of the Center for Orientation and Academic Advising Programs at the University of Kansas. She was director of the Undergraduate Advising Center at the university.

Dr. Coffin is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, where she majored in agricultural business and management. She earned a master of public administration degree and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Kansas.

Shawnté Elbert has agreed to assume the role of associate vice president for well-being and health in the Office of Student Life at Ohio State University. She was the associate dean for health and wellness at Central Washington University.

Dr. Elbert is a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she majored in health education. She holds a master’s degree from Chatham University in Pittsburgh and a doctorate in educational leadership and management from St. Thomas University.
