Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, Names Elizabeth Paul as its Next President

Elizabeth L. Paul was named the tenth president of Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. She will take office on July 1.

Nazareth College enrolls over 2,200 undergraduate students and about 700 graduate students, according to U.S. Department of Education data. Women make up 74 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Since July 2016, Dr. Paul has served as the 16th president of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Earlier she was the senior academic officer and a professor of psychology at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, for seven years. From 1992 to 2009, Dr. Paul was vice provost and professor of psychology at The College of New Jersey.

In accepting her new appointment, Dr. Paul stated, it is “very special to me to have this opportunity to lead Nazareth at this vital time. I am grateful to, and energized by, the many students, faculty, staff, alumni, and trustees who contributed to the search process. I am eager to get to know the people who make Nazareth such an exceptional learning community, and to begin our work together to ensure Nazareth’s flourishing future.”

Dr. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a doctorate in personality psychology, both from Boston University. She is a past president of the Council on Undergraduate Research.
