Kim Lee Hughes has elected been elected president of the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, a division of the American Counseling Association. Her term will begin on July 1, 2019.
Dr. Lee Hughes currently serves as an assistant professor in the counseling department in the School of Education at Clark Atlanta University in Georgia. Her academic and research interests include women of color in education, the empowerment of people of color, culturally affirmative interventions, LGBTQ youth in college settings, qualitative research, social justice, and multicultural training. She is the co-author of several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on social justice, multiculturalism, counseling ethics, and working with people of color across the lifespan.
A native of Washington, D.C., Dr. Lee Hughes is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta. She holds a doctorate in counseling and student personnel services from the University of Georgia.
