Carla Hadden is the inaugural executive director of core facilities in the Office of Research at the University of Georgia. For the past five years, Dr. Hadden has served as director of the university’s Center for Applied Isotope Studies. An environmental archaeologist specializing in zoo-archaeology, she focuses her work on historical ecology of coastal and island settings as well as chronology building in shell-matrix sites.
Dr. Hadden is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she double-majored in anthropology and zoology. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Georgia.
Lauren Collier is the new executive director of disability services at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Collier has spent the past three years as associate director for disability services at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In her new role, she will work to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to academics and campus life through reasonable accommodations.
Collier holds a master’s degree from KY Leuven in Belgium. She is currently pursuing a doctorate with the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Kiona Sinks was named executive director of marketing and communications at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. She previously served as director of marketing and communications for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.
Sinks is a graduate of Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, where she majored in sociology and psychology. She earned an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Catherine Parker Edmonson was named director of the Gallery of Art and Design in the School of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Southern Mississippi. Edmondson is an art historian with more than two decades of international and local experience. Most recently, she served as program director at Prospect Gallery in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Edmonson holds a master’s degree in contemporary art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London.
Roxie Xie is director of marketing and communications for the Global Campus of the University of Arkansas. Xie begins her new role with more than a decade of marketing experience across governments, financial services, tech, energy, health care, automotive, and consumer sectors. She most recently served as associate director of global strategy and integrated marketing at Bloomberg in New York.
Xie is a graduate of New York University, where she majored in economics. She holds a master’s degree in branding and integrated communications from the City College of New York.
Jennifer Horstman has been appointed director of human resources for the division of student affairs at Virginia Tech. Horstman has worked in human resources within Marriott International for more than two decades. Most recently, she was director of people and culture at Turnberry at JW Marriott in Nashville. Earlier, she was director of human resources at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
Horstman received her bachelor’s degree in human resources and business management from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Maya T. Mapp is the new vice president for enrollment management and student success at Bronx Community College. Mapp comes to her new role from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, where she was associate vice president for enrollment management. She previously served in leadership roles at Arcadia University in Pennsylvania, Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, Eastern Kentucky University, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Mapp earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Ohio State University and her master’s degree in higher education leadership from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Following several months of interim service, Marissa Langford has been officially named chief of staff for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost at North Carolina State University. In addition to this role, Langford also serves as senior vice provost for data and analytics. Earlier in her tenure with the university, she was assistant dean for college operations and chief of staff to the dean in the College of Engineering.
Langford holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in textile engineering from North Carolina State University.
Ashley Schaefer was appointed director of the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing at Vincennes University Jasper in Indiana. Schaefer has more than 15 years of technical expertise specializing in battery technology and sustainable energy. She most recently served as head of cell development at Ten-Nine Technologies, an advanced battery manufacturing company in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Schaefer holds bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech.
