Three Women Appointed Department Chairs at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock

Three women have recently been appointed to department chair positions at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

Sloan Davidson has been named interim chair of the department of nursing. She has been a faculty member in the nursing department since 2008 and has been serving as the associate degree program coordinator since 2014.

Dr. Davidson holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Florida Hospital of Health Sciences, a master’s degree in nursing education from Walden University, and a Ph.D. in nursing science from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Vicki Lind has been appointed chair of the department of music within the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences. She was previously a music education faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Dr. Lind holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music education from Wichita State University in Kansas and a Ph.D. in music education from the University of Arizona.

Mary Ellen Nevins has been named interim chair of the department of audiology and speech pathology. She is a professor and director of the graduate certification program in auditory based intervention.

Dr. Nevins holds a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology from Rutgers University in New Jersey, a master’s degree in speech and hearing education of deaf children from Washington University in St. Louis , and a doctorate in education of the hearing impaired from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City.
