In Memoriam: Ann Ida Gannon, 1915-2018

Ann Ida Gannon, who served as president of Mundelein College in Chicago, died on June 3 at the Caritas Center at Mount Carmel in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 103 years old.

Dr. Gannon was a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary for 85 years. She became president of Mundelein College in 1957. The college was run by her order and has since become part of Loyola University of Chicago. Dr. Gannon served as president of the college for 18 years.

After earning a Ph.D. at Saint Louis University, Dr. Gannon taught at a grade school and a high school in Chicago before joining the philosophy faculty at Mundelein College in 1951.

Dr. Gannon was the recipient of 26 honorary doctorates.
