Derina Holtzhausen Is the Only Woman Finalist for Dean of the Journalism School at the University of Georgia

HoltzhausenDerinaThe Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia has announced four finalists for the position of dean. The finalists will all visit the Athens campus by the end of the month and participate in interviews and public presentations. One of the four finalists is a woman.

Derina R. Holtzhausen is a professor and director of the School of Media and Strategic Communications at Oklahoma State University. She has led what is now the School of Media and Strategic Communications since 2008. She is a graduate of the University of Pretoria and holds a master’s degree from the University of South Africa and a Ph.D. from the University of Johannesburg.

Recently, Dr. Holtzhausen was presented with the 2012 Outstanding Book Award from the Public Relations Division of the National Communications Association. She was honored for the book Public Relations as Activism: Postmodern Approaches to Theory & Practice.
