Jamie Hooyman has been appointed interim president of North Central Missouri College. She began her new role on September 1.
According to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education, North Central Missouri College enrolls nearly 2,000 students. Women represent about three-quarters of the community college’s student population.
Dr. Hooyman’s appointment marks a return to North Central Missouri College, where she previously spent more than a decade in several key leadership roles, including vice president of institutional effectiveness. Most recently, Dr. Hooyman was vice president of academic affairs and provost of Northwest Missouri State University. She was the first woman to serve in that role.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Hooyman served as a faculty member at the University of Central Oklahoma. She has also held leadership roles with Metropolitan Community College. Her career began in healthcare, specifically in clinical and wellness settings focused on improving quality of life for diverse populations.
“I am thrilled to serve as interim president because I believe so strongly in what NCMC does every day to help individuals achieve their dreams,” said Dr. Hooyman. “This institution has been an important part of my family’s history, and I never hesitate to give back when I can. I look forward to working alongside our talented faculty and staff and with the communities we serve as we continue moving the college forward.”
An alumna of North Central Missouri College, Dr. Hooyman earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri State University. She holds a master’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate in human performance from Oklahoma State University.
