There are nine new faculty members at Pomona College, the highly rated liberal arts college in Claremont, California. Five of the nine new faculty members are women.
Pey-Yi Chu is an assistant professor of history. Before joining the faculty at Pomona, she was conducting postdoctoral research at Harvard University. Dr. Chu is a graduate of Stanford University and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
Jane Liu is an assistant professor of chemistry. Previously, she was an assistant professor at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. Dr. Liu is a graduate of Swarthmore College in suburban Philadelphia. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University.
Sara Olsen is an assistant professor of biology who teaches courses in cell chemistry and cell biology. Dr. Olsen is a graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. She earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the University of California at San Diego.
Michelle Zemel is an instructor in economics. She is teaching courses in corporate finance, economic statistics, and risk management. Dr. Zemel is a graduate of Northwestern University, where she majored in mathematics. She holds a master’s degree in statistics from Tel Aviv University and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from New York University.
Pam Bromley is an assistant professor of politics and international relations. She has been the assistant director of the writing program at the college since 2008. Dr. Bromley is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University.
