Six Women in New Roles at College and Universities

Chon Glover was named director of the new Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The new office was formed by the merger of the Office of Diversity and Community Initiatives and the Office of Equal Opportunity. Dr. Glover has been on the staff at the college for 16 years and has served most recently as assistant to the president for diversity and community initiatives.

Dr. Glover holds a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from the College of William and Mary.

Melissa Wohlstein was appointed associate vice president for development at Georgia Southern University. For the past seven years, she was senior director of development for the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida.

Wohlstein is a graduate of the University of Alabama. She earned a master’s degree in public administration at the University of Central Florida.

Kelli McCormack Brown was promoted to interim dean at the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida. For the past five years, she has served as associate dean for academic affairs. Previously, she was dean of the Graduate School at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Dr. Brown holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toledo. She earned a doctorate at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Loria Brown Gordon was named interim associate dean of the W.E.B. Du Bois Honors College at Jackson State University. She is an assistant professor in the department of educational foundations and leadership and has served the university as director of TRIO programs and special assistant to the vice president for student life.

Dr. Gordon holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Jackson State University.

Pamela Haney was promoted to vice president for academic affairs at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. She was serving as dean of science, business, and computer technology at the college. Previously, she was the faculty omsbud officer for the University of Nevada’s flagship campus in Reno.

Dr. Haney holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Norfolk State University in Virginia and a Ph.D. in interpersonal communications from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Evelyn Leathers is the new vice president for institutional advancement at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was vice president for institutional advancement at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. Previously, she was director of foundation relations and private grants at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Leathers holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in adult education from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. She also pursued doctoral studies in higher education administration at Virginia Tech.
