Jamie Wong has been named an assistant professor of anthropology at Princeton University. She will also hold a primary faculty appointment with the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies when she begins her new role in September 2025. Currently, she serves as a postdoctoral fellow with the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies. Her research focuses on the interface of science and technology studies, political and economic anthropology, and China studies.
Dr. Wong is a graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she majored in music. She earned a master’s degree in musicology and a master’s degree in social anthropology from the University of Oxford in England. She received her Ph.D. in history, anthropology, science, technology, and society from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Emily Sandoz has been named director of the honors program at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. A faculty member with the university for over a decade, Dr. Sandoz currently holds appointments as the Emma Louise LeBlanc Burguieres/BORSF Endowed Professor of Social Sciences and as a full professor of psychology. Additionally, Dr. Sandoz serves as director of the Louisiana Contextual Science Research Group.
Dr. Sandoz holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in psychology from the University of Louisiana Lafayette and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Mississippi.
Carrie Hammer has been appointed associate dean of the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources at North Dakota State University. She has been a faculty member with the university since 2005, and earned an appointment as a full professor of animal and equine sciences in 2021. Earlier in her tenure, she served as director of the equine science program.
A four-time graduate of Iowa State University, Dr. Hammer holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science, a master’s degree in nutritional physiology, a doctor of veterinary medicine degree, and a Ph.D. in animal physiology.
Catherine Gavin Loss has been named associate provost for academic affairs at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. A faculty member since 2008, she currently serves as an associate professor of practice in the department of leadership, policy, and organizations. Prior to her new role, she served as senior associate dean for academic affairs and professional education in Vanderbilt’s Peabody College. Earlier in her tenure, she was associate chair of her department.
Dr. Gavin Loss holds a master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Virginia.
