New Dean Positions for Three Women in Higher Education

Anita Sharif-Hyder has been appointed dean of students and assistant dean of academic affairs and student life at the Yale School of Management. A member of the Yale community since 2006, she currently serves as the senior associate director of the University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct and associate head of Trumbull College, one of Yale’s undergraduate residential colleges.

Sharif-Hyder is a graduate of Syracuse University. She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Towson University in Maryland.

Beth Kelley has been named dean of the physical education division at Fullerton College in California. She comes to her new role after nearly two decades on the faculty at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California, where she was a professor and chair of the department of exercise science, nutrition, and health department. Earlier in her career, she taught in the kinesiology department and directed the faculty and staff wellness program at San Francisco State University.

Dr. Kelley received her bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from San Diego State University. She earned her master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She returned to San Diego State University to complete her doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in community college and postsecondary leadership.

Pamela Norris has been named dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Delaware. Most recently, she served as a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and vice provost for research at George Washington University. She previously spent nearly three decades on the faculty of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia, where she holds the title of Frederick Tracy Morse Professor Emerita of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Dr. Norris is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She received her master’s degree and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
